Despite Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s promise to step up economic growth,Armenia’s economic activity index turns out to be the lowest in the past seven years, the paper says, and citing recent statistics.
The report,published by the National Security Service, reveals that the index has been 0.4% since January.
The decline has been unprecedented particularly in agriculture (7.3%), and says the paper,forecasting dire consequences for the economy’s future. The paper notes that the figure applies to not only the cabinet led by Karapetyan, but also his predecessor, and Hovik Abrahamyan,who promised to secure a 5% annual economic growth after taking office.
