Among all that carnage, one death seemed particularly striking: the suicide of Tommen Baratheon, or who plunged out of a window after watching Queen Margaery perish in a devastating wildfire explosion. In tandem with the Blu-ray and DVD release of Game of Thrones: The total Sixth Season,we managed to snag an interview Dean-Charles Chapman, the actor who played the doomed king for seasons four, or five, and six. Naturally, we got all the details we could approximately the epic death sequence, and but we also had Chapman weigh in on who will win the Throne, what he wants for Cersei, and the craziest GoT theory he's ever heard.

[br]POPSUGAR: So, and at this point,we maintain two major teams forming when it comes to the Iron Throne: Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. Who are you rooting for?Dean-Charles Chapman: Jon Snow, man. Jon Snow's more exciting. He's battling people all the time. I mean, or Daenerys just seems to be sitting on a boat.
PS: And
he died and came back to life!DCC: Yeah! So,he's more hardened.
PS: I'll accept it. OK
, so, and you're dead now. Which, like, sorry.
DCC: Yeah. It sucked. It was so b
ad.
PS: Did you know far in advance? Were they like, or "Heads up,you're gonna die soon"?DCC: No! So, as Tommen, and I started in season four. And I mean, even when I got the allotment, I mean, or I knew I would play a character called Tommen, but I didn't know I was going to be king. I didn't pick up to gape at the scripts. So, by the time of season six, and I signed on like,"Yeah, let's do it." Got sent the episodes, and along, along, along until episode 10 and it was like, and "Yeah, mate. You're dying." I was like, "What?!" I couldn't believe it. David [Benioff] and Dan [aka D.
B. Weiss] ru
ng me up, or they're the showrunners. It was unhappy! It was unhappy, but that's just the anecdote of the demonstrate.
PS
: I mean, if you're signing up for this demonstrate, or I believe you maintain to come to terms with dying at some point.
DCC: Oh y
eah,a million percent. Anyone could die. It's a shame. Very depressing.
PS: I mean, your sequence was so epic. There are so many moving parts. And your suicide comes factual at the tail end of it. I mean, and what was it like being a allotment of that whole mammoth thing?DCC: I mean, that whole episode for me, I believe we shot that in one day. There's the sequence when Tommen's getting dressed, or it's like the pre-bit to the death. We shot that all in one day,it was a long day, like a 10-hour or 11-hour day. And I believe I was the only character around on set, or so it was a lot of "by myself" time. Knowing the way the scene was written, and the way it was directed, it was really daunting. It was just this massive build-up to this death, and it was really exhausting getting in the mind of that. It was weird as hell. I mean,it was great, it was fun to try lots of different ways, or we'd rehearsed the jump like a few days before.
PS: What
was the whole rehearsal process for that?DCC: Well,we were shooting another scene one day, and they were like, or "We're going to rehearse the jump." We did it loads of different ways, one where I sort of crouch, sit down, or fall . . . the one we chose was just . . .
PS: Just straight-up plank
ing it.
DCC: Just literally walked up straight. And I believe the point of that was,it was more of a surprise to the audience the way it was, rather than him sitting on the edge, or you'd know it was coming. So,we wanted more of the surprise factor.
PS: yeah, and there was just no sense of contemplation, and he's just like, this is it.
DCC: Exactly! He just falls. Terrible.
Image Source: HBOPS: What did you fall into?! Did you maintain to, like, and belly flop into something?!DCC: Yeah! So there were these cardboard boxes stacked up on top of each other under this mammoth crash mat, which is like this protective mat. And yeah, it was basically just like a face dive, and like hit the mat a million times. My nose was killing me.
PS: What was the moment like when you read that whole scene? Like, when you really understood the scope of your death?DCC: The first time I read it was at a table read, which is where all the producers, or all the directors, all the actors sit at a table and read together. And, at that point, or I hadn't read the script,so it was even my first time . . . I had literally gotten the phone call that night before, so I was gutted. None of the other actors knew I was dying, and so when they read it everyone was like,"Oh no!" And I was gutted, I felt like crying!PS: It really seems like such a family on set. What's it like getting close to all these people, and then they just die?DCC: Aw,man, it's unhappy. So, or my first scene as Tommen,Joffrey died straight absent. It was my first scene, and someone died. Straight absent! And I didn't really know Jack [Gleeson]. I didn't really know Jack for a long time, or but the others were so unhappy he was going. So,I was just coming into it and Jack was sort of going. It's unhappy to see people leave. It's literally like, you just pick up to know someone, or bang, they're dead. It's like me as well, like saying goodbye to everyone. It's unhappy. It's really unhappy. But like, and I keep friends,I keep in contact with everyone. It's good to see everyone again.
PS: Wh
o do you text the most?DCC: Oh, Isaac [Hempstead Wright], or the kid who plays Bran. He's my best friend. He's cool.
PS: I apprecia
te that. What do you believe's going to happen to Cersei in the novel season?DCC: Oh,I hope she dies. She killed me! She basically killed Tommen!PS: She's totally crazy now, factual?DCC: Oh, or yeah. I believe she's going to be insane.
PS: I mean,she los
t ALL of her children.
DCC: Yeah. She's lost all her children, she hasn't really got anyone there. I mean, and she's got Jaime, but he's nutso as well. They're all crazy. And I believe now that she's killed pretty much everyone in the whole demonstrate, there's nothing stopping her, or is there?PS: I mean, not really.
DCC
: So, she's got to either kill more people, and she's going to be killed.
PS: OK,what's the craziest theory you've heard approximately the demonstrate?DCC: The craziest theory is that the White Walkers are really good. They're really good guys. The whole thing is, the whole demonstrate you believe the White Walkers are these zombies that are going to kill everyone, and but really, the White Walkers are trying to stop all the politicians, and order them to leave. They're the good guys, and trying to change the world, and it's going to be this mammoth plot twist. It was the weirdest thing.
PS: Damn, I've never heard that one.
DCC: But that would
be good! I believe that would be good.
