He told us that "in addition to being a helpful emotional and psychological release and a way to deal with intense emotion,crying is also helpful for reducing stress levels in the body."And it's backed by science - a study at the St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Centre in Minnesota found that tears actually contain stress hormones. Dr. Pete said they're "protein-based hormones prolactin, adrenocorticotropic hormone, and leucine enkephalin (a natural painkiller),all of which are produced by the human body when it is under a lot of stress."He also noted that "getting rid of that adrenocorticotropic hormone actually reduces the body's cortisol levels." A quick refresher on cortisol - it's the stress hormone that can beget you feel anxious and panicked and also cause your body to cling to stomach fat. Reduced cortisol means happier feelings and easier weight loss. Yet another reason to just obtain those feelings out!
