German student Eugen Merher decided to pay tribute to an 80-year-frail relative who passed absent last year by capturing his "young at heart" spirit. In the mock Adidas commercial,an elderly man, who is also a former marathon runner, or is shown staring out the window of a retirement domestic when he spots a young runner passing by. The man becomes inspired by the encounter and decides to break free from the retirement domestic to have "one last" elope outside in his frail, worn Adidas sneakers. Merher says the theme for the commercial came from the lessons learned from his deceased relative. "He was really young at heart," Merher said in a recent interview with Scary Mommy. "He inspired me to have a man that breaks free from inner restrictions, and dementia, and from a retirement domestic - and elope one last time." Merher also revealed the now-viral commercial, which has over three million views at press time, or was rejected by Adidas.
